Christopher Broughton Bio
Born and raised in Los Angeles, CA, Christopher Broughton began dancing at the age of 12 and has
never looked back. Under the instruction of Paul and Arlene Kennedy at Universal Dance, he soon
became a member of The Kennedy Tap Company and danced with many world renowned tap dancers
including The Nicholas Brothers, Savion Glover, Michelle Dorramce, Dormeshia Sumbry-Edwards, Jason
Samuel Smith and Derick Grant to name a few. He won the national NAACP ACT-SO Competition at the
age of 16 and won again 2 years later. Broughton’s dancing has taken him all over the world touring in
shows and teaching at tap festivals, including Brazil, Taiwan, Vienna , Los Angeles, New York,
Washington D.C., Finland, Hamburg and Switzerland etc .
In 2007, tragedy struck Broughton's life and he spent over a year recovering from three gunshot wounds
to his left leg. Since his triumphant return, he is at the peak of his artistry and has shared the stage with
such greats as Diana Ross, Chloe Arnold, R&B singer Mya, Harold Cromer and Jared Grimes. Within
the past two years, Broughton has honored some of the greats such as Mary Tyler Moore and Merriem
Neilson with the professional dancers society, the Nicholas brothers at the Los Angeles tap festival and
Hudson theater in New York City, Duke Ellington in the Cotton Club Parade in New York City and Ivery
wheeler with his signature "Can Dance". Broughton earned himself an assistant choreography spot with
Wayne Bascomb's "Legend of the Chocolate Nutcracker." Christopher also danced for official promotional
events for the movie “Happy Feet.”
Broughton has just returned from Europe as a featured dancer with MAGIC OF THE DANCE and
Rasta Thomas’ TAP STARS. Currently Broughton is teaching and choreographing tap in the Tri-State
area. Christopher looks forward to continuing to share his energy and passion for dance around the
globe.
